From artists’ books, product lines to exhibitions I’ve enjoyed exploring the book form in a range of sizes and forms. Here you’ll find a selection of commissions, journals, sculptural forms, and jewelry.

I am largely self taught and continue to learn and improve my craft through books, workshops and the Triangle Book Arts group.

Behind the Bind

Whether folding multiple signatures for a journal or making intricate cuts and folds for a more sculptural piece, transforming a flat material into a new form of beauty or practical use is a magical and meditative process.

Projects

A Trio For H

A memorial capsule notebook set was commissioned to embody the teen's love of Legos and creating art. Over 200 notes were included in this highly custom and touching tribute set.

Custom LEGO slipcase

H's artwork was incorporated into the covers.

Coptic stitch bindings

Three 5 x 7 x 2 books were needed to hold 200+ notes.

Anniversary Album

Ahead of their wedding, Meghan and Ryan wanted an envelope book to store their vow books as well as chronicle the couple's future anniversaries with spaces for photos and notes.

The design was inspired by the steel blue and springy wedding color palette.

Accordion fold envelopes with sewn in folios.

The book can be displayed open at any length to feature all or a few photos as the years go by.

Factors of 10

From printing blocks, reclaimed wood, to hot foil stamping, I look to a variety of materials and techniques—old, new, and self-developed—to personalize custom projects.

These projects marked 10 year employment milestones and contained many notes from friends and colleagues.

Mountain House Guest Book

Designed to evoke the atmospheric location, it also needed to be easy to refill. To my knowledge, it's the first book I've made that has been stolen so I made it twice!

A layering technique with book cloth was developed to create a highly textured cover.

Binding with screw posts makes adding and removing pages a breeze.

Wrapping the spine with cork fabric adds style and durability.

Vital Divergences

Inspired by the writings of Paul Klee on creativity and the artistic process, through form, folds, color and illustrations, this artist book explores the overlap between ideas, a tree’s lifecycle and the invention of paper.
